In the year of 1935, Sheik Abdul-Gader Salim Bashanfer established his company and he is from a long-line of well-known family businessmen in Yemen.  He established the Bashanfer Trading Co. as a sole proprietorship in the city of Dire Dawa in the Harrar Region of Ethiopia.  He specialized in exporting the coffee beans to Yemen and Saudi Arabia.  In the year of 1966, he decided to move to the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he established the Alkhair General Trading Office as a sole proprietorship.  In 2000, the business was changed to Alkhair Trading Office Company, Ltd. 

 Since the debut of the establishment, we have specialized in importing the best quality Ethiopian coffee beans.  Every type of bean is carefully selected for its quality and each one carries the brand name of the Bashanfer family.  Because of the reputation that has been built over the years of the quality of our coffee beans, our green beans have become known in the Arabian Peninsula as Bashanfer coffee beans.  Even after his death in 1976, our company has continued to be successful using the same basic principles of our father.  After his death, the leadership transferred to his oldest son, Mohammed Abdulgader Bashanfer, to carry on the responsibility for leading the company to new heights and maintaining the reputation of the Bashanfer name, which represents quality, uniqueness of products, and superb business ethics.  Since that time, we have gone through many innovations and improvements in order to provide our products and packaging to our customers in the best way possible.  As a result, we were the first to introduce the 10 kilo package in the Arabian Peninsula for coffee beans.

Our first coffee factory was established in Ethiopia for coffee products in order to provide these products to the local market and neighboring African countries.  We use modern Paul Kaack coffee processing machinery in both the cities of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa. With our continued success, in 2003, we built our state-of-the-art coffee factory in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with the best, available automated technology to produce processed coffee from sifting the green beans to roasting, grinding, and then packaging.  This factory is currently producing Arabic coffee, Turkish coffee, American coffee, espresso, instant, and cappuccino, and it was built to serve the Middle East, Europe, and America.

Besides our well-known coffee beans, we also have become known with other quality products that carry our Alkhair name.  We have carefully selected these products so that they meet our quality standards including: powdered milk, cream, basmati rice, and tea.  These products are imported from Holland, Germany, India, and Sri Lanka.
